SUARShare Now Available!

SUAR IT has setup a folder for all SUAR units to share files as needed. It is located at j:\slfm\SUARShare (or S:\slfm\mydept\slfm\SUARShare). Staff and most of our student employees can access the share. 

We ask that you clean up files from the SUARShare if they are only needed temporarily.

Please contact SUAR IT Support STaff if you have any questions.

Database Server Upgrades 02-22-2009

Microsoft IE7 Critical Security Patch Install, 2/13

Tomorrow during login ITS will be installing the February 09 MS IE7 (MS09-002 KB961260) Critical Security Patch via the NAL. The install takes about 2 minutes and the system does not restart. The install icon (XP SP3 IE7 Cumulative Patch 2 09) displays on NAL in the My-Campus > Updates-Installs > Window Security Updates should users desire to install early. Please feel free to contact a SUAR-IT staff member should you have any additional questions.

January 2009 Monthly Report

Mark Shropshire - SUAR IT Business Technology Applications Analyst

  • Started month with three student covering 40 hours / week.
  • Student Union Planning:
    • Wireless network.
    • Digital signage.
    • IP security camera systems. Demo of the Cisco system at Cisco offices in Charlotte.
    • Walk thru with AV vendor to discuss large sound/lighting rigging systems.
  • Paperwork for new IT position for SUAR IT.
  • Planning and development for the April 1st launch of Student Org registrations.
  • Marketing/Web planning with Lyndsay Richter.
  • Worked with student staff to convert AutoCAD diagrams for the Student Union to Room Viewer for space planning.
  • Backed up Mike Teague while he was away on vacation for a week.
  • Discussions/planning around the approaching Novell replacement project. Involves AD, BigFix and new file servers.
  • Planning/Inventory work for new and replacement computer purchases for Spring 2009. Purchases will cover Student Union, Cone Center and SAC needs.

Server outages due to HVAC issues in Cone Center

All services have been restored. Sever room temp is stable.

Cone Center and Facilities were able to restore chiller. Things are still a little warm in the server room so we are not positive things are back to normal, but we are bringing up a few essential servers. We will monitor over the weekend.
